About the Artist
Alexandra was born in Kenya and it is here she lived most of her life surrounded by the exotic beauty and wilderness of Africa. She discovered Byron Bay, Australia, in 1989 and has now made this tranquil corner of the world her base, painting in her studio here for exhibitions all over the world.
Inspired by her colourful background, Alexandra mainly paints African wildlife (occasionally branching into nudes and native tribes of Africa). Over the years she has developed an unusual contemporary decorative style, bold and textured and uniquely her own.
Her medium, though predominantly oil on canvas, now sees an inspired branch into mixed media working with gold leaf and fluorescent acrylic. This adds a new and energetic dimension to her art creating a 3d effect with black light and bringing on a new and exciting era to her work.
With an upcomming exhibition in Chelsea, New York, and additional exhibitions planned for Byron Bay, Sydney and Kenya, this artist will be keeping her paintbrush wet!
In addition to oil paintings Alexandra also extends her decorative style to produce large and beautiful murals, colour inspiring and fun. Many of these can be seen around her hometown of Byron Bay, and her mark has been left on many a wall in Africa and Europe.
